With its scenic mountain setting and wide range of recreational activities and events, the Bridgeport area is very popular with visitors. Hiking, rock–climbing, and bathing in hot springs are also popular near Bridgeport. The wide variety of recreational activities attracts thousands of visitors each year.

The Sierra Nevada Mountains have numerous natural hot springs, two of which are near Bridgeport. Travertine Hot Spring is just south of Bridgeport on California State Park land. It is quite popular and is easily accessible. Numerous hot pools provide stunning views of the Sierras as you soak in the thermal water. At Travertine, water flows down from rock formations into pools, which are at a comfortable, relaxing 103–degree temperature.

Bridgeport is located two and a half hours south of Reno, Nevada on State Route 395. Mammoth Lakes, California is located one hour south of Bridgeport, home to Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort, one of California’s largest ski areas. In Bridgeport, State Route 395 intersects with State Route 182, which connects with Wellington, Nevada to the north. The nearest community of much size from Bridgeport is Walker, California. It is located thirty miles to the north of Bridgeport in the Antelope Valley, with the nearby communities of Coleville and Topaz. Bridgeport’s beautiful valley setting is the perfect stop over for many points of interest including Yosemite National Park and Lake Tahoe.
